Welcome aboard the dining train my friends! One thing I love to do is switch up our table settings to create a little interest and fun! This one in particular is a fun one because of the glass and florals which the kids love to look (and play UGH!) with at dinner. So to break it all down for you I first started with some softies, aka the linen-style table cloth bunched and running down the center of the table that I made. I love the simple yet elegant look it gives and if the kiddos mess with it, I just throw it in the wash and it’s all good!Next I added some hard textures with the glass pieces. My husband brews beer and sometimes uses these gallon glass jugs but for the moment they are being utilized as one of the centerpieces of our family table. Sorry hubs! You can find similar jugs at retail stores or by thrifting them.I added the milk glass from Hearth and Hand on each side of the glass jugs and topped each piece with a fun floral also from Hearth and Hand. The mixture of textures brings your eyes right up. You have the hardness and warmth of the table, to the softness of the linen, to the hard and fragile of the glass and back to the softness of the florals.I created this layered dish look with a golden charger and minty-blue plate from the Dollar Tree, yes, the Dollar Tree. If you haven’t visited one yet for your dining needs you NEED to because this layered plate look was only 2 bucks! And if you’re hosting a lot of people going the frugal way doesn’t have to mean paper plates! The linen napkin is one that I made and the beautiful wooden napkin holder was a thrift store find. Here’s where I added in the warmth again to match the table. Now you just need to add in some fun utensils and glasses and you have yourself a simply set dining room table! How do you like to style your dining spaces?
