Meridian Stress Assessment: What it is & Why I did it

MSA_main_optimized

In today’s world the body is exposed to environmental pollutants, stresses, and illnesses. These worldly exposures tend to wear our bodies down. There are several ways a person can choose to heal their bodies and enhance the body’s functional health and I chose to educate and test the healing ability of the Meridian Stress Assessment.

The Meridian Stress Assessment combines Eastern medicine with Western Technology.  It is performed with the Computronix Z-41, a medical testing instrument. It was discovered that acupuncture points had different resistance to a tiny electrical current sent by the Z-41 instrument. These acupuncture points provide a window into this meridian system. The Meridian Stress Assessment is a painless procedure that measures energetic properties in the meridians of the body. The readings will indicate whether the body is balanced, stressed, or weakened and in turn creates a picture of the body’s state of functional health. The Computronix Z-41 system can then be used to identify remedies that will help the body restore itself to an optimal state of health.

My Experience:
I am no expert in this field so, with that said, this is just MY experience with having the Meridian Stress Assessment done. My husband and I went together (he was a bit of a skeptic). I was convinced that my husband’s readings would be all over the place and there was going to be so many “discoveries” going on inside his body but boy was I wrong! I went first…and I was the worst!
The doctor had me hold the grounding rod and began his probing with the electro-magnetic device. The readings are shown on special computer software and from there the doctor was able to determine if an area of the body had some “issues” that had to be looked at further. Well I had issues in my lungs, gut, intestines, and more that I can’t even remember! I had bacteria, viruses, and parasites. YUCK!!!
The doctor asked if I was tired and I simply responded “I don’t know what NOT being tired feels like” and this was why! All of those unwelcomed guests were depleting me of my energy. And on top of that my skin, joints, sinuses, etc. were suffering. I had so many red flags that he couldn’t even continue. We had to start the remedies somewhere and at 6, yes 6 total remedies I had to take, it was time to stop the probing and start the remedy process.

Remedies:
My remedies consisted of herbal and homeopathic drops that had to be taken 3x per day for 30-45 days. In that time the bacteria, viruses, and parasites that correlated to those remedies should be expunged and I should notice some difference in my internal and external body. I did notice a little less morning sinus drip which was caused by the parasite in the lungs. I also noticed that my acne breakout on my neck (which was extremely bad) was starting to heal and lessen. I was still tired but I had more issues that had to be worked out at a later date.

Later Date:
The later date has come and gone and while my readings improved I still had some stresses on the body that needed to be addressed with continued use of the remedies. I was told that in some cases (like mine) it could take 120 days to get rid of the pollutants, stresses, and illnesses.

Below are some Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Meridian Stress Assessment provided by my doctor, SaTerra Vishnu, DOM(Acupuncture Physician).

  1. What does MSA stand for?

Meridian Stress Assessment. Meridians are a network of energetic pathways which pass through the organs and tissues of the body. Bioelectric energy, essential for human life, flows through each meridian and the associated organs and tissues. In Chinese medicine, this energy is called Qi (pronounced chi). There are many acupoints along any meridian. Acupoints are specific locations where the meridian intersects with the surface of the skin. These acupoints can be used to access data about the meridian and the functional status of its associated organs or tissues.

  1. What is MSA Testing?

An MSA test is an analysis of your body’s functional health. Each meridian is like an electrical circuit. Readings are taken at specific acupoints on the hands and feet using a highly-sensitive ohmmeter to determine the functional status of each meridian. The readings will indicate whether the meridian and its associated organ and tissues are balanced, stressed, or weakened. Remedies are then found which will return stressed or weakened meridians to a balanced state. This, in turn, will promote optimal functional health.

  1. Is it going to hurt?

No. You will be holding a brass rod in one hand while the technician uses a probe to take readings at specific locations on your hands and feet. There is only the possible discomfort of having the probe tip pressed against your skin.

  1. How will MSA testing and balancing benefit me?

An MSA test will indicate the status of your functional health. It will tell which meridians in your body are in balance, stressed or weakened. The MSA can then be used to select specific remedies that will return your meridians to balance. The MSA sends out an electromagnetic signal to your body which represents different remedies. Your body’s response to these signals is measured. In this way, your body is able to “choose” which herb, homeopathic, or nutritional supplement will aid in restoring balance to your meridians.

  1. How does this differ from regular medical treatment?

MSA testing and balancing does not take the place of qualified medical diagnosis and treatment. You are responsible for your own medical needs and must determine which type of medical care is best for you. Conventional medicine is exceptionally effective in health crisis management and in diagnosing disease and in prescribing medication that will diminish symptoms. MSA testing is a way to address patient concerns that don’t show up in other tests. It is helpful for patients who want to improve their general health as well as those with chronic problems that lack a specific diagnosis or that have not responded to other treatment.

  1. Will MSA testing be harmful to me in any way?

This equipment is classified by the FDA as a “non-significant risk” device. The amount of current used in MSA testing is in the range of millionths of an amp. This is so slight that you will not even feel it. MSA technology can be compared to polygraph, EKG (electrocardiogram), EEG (electroencephalogram), EMG (electromyelogram), and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and other technologies that measure electrical response on the surface of the skin. Because this is a topical evaluation, it is non-invasive and completely safe.

  1. Will this procedure cure me of disease?

The MSA-21 system is not a diagnostic tool. The primary purpose of this system is to evaluate the energy flow through the body. It is not meant to make a medical diagnosis or replace medical intervention. The purpose of using the MSA System is to narrow down the huge number of choices (of products) that will support your body in functioning at a healthier level. When your body functions at a healthier level, you will be better able to cope with the challenge of disease. In this way, cure is enhanced.

  1. How often do I need to have MSA testing and balancing done?

Once-a-month visits are advisable in the beginning. Many people achieve a more balanced meridian profile after three visits (although this varies with the individual). Once an individual’s meridians are operating at an optimal level, follow-up appointments are recommended every six months.

  1. Can I still take my prescription medications while taking homeopathics or herbal remedies?

We cannot advise you to stop taking a prescription medication. We do however have the ability to test that medication and see whether it weakens, balances, or stresses your system. By testing your medications, it is possible to identify whether you are overdosing, or using products that are not helping. You can take your conventional medication 20 minutes away from homeopathic remedies.

  1. How does MSA allergy testing compare to conventional allergy testing?

One MSA user states: “For one year’s growing season, we did both scratch allergy tests and MSA tests on all new allergy patients. This amounted to several hundred patients. Our experience was that the MSA gave us the most reliable information overall. The scratch test was very good at determining pollen allergies. With the MSA, we were able in 10-15 minutes to do a “sensitivity” test on 120 items. The results from the MSA correlated the best in giving the doctor and dietician useful data in setting up a treatment protocol. The patients who experienced the MSA sensitivity test and scratch test strongly preferred the MSA test experience as well as the results.”

  1. Hi Jess,
I googled MSA and your blog came up. Do you have an update? Can you share your outcome? How you are doing now? Do you feel the MSA test was helpful?

    1. It was AMAZING! It’s been a while since it was done but it has really helped my husband and I. I would recommend it to anyone!
