Creating a Welcoming and Functional Entryway

You’re entryway is your first impression. It needs to be equal parts welcoming and functional. I’m sharing our small yet impactful entryway in hopes that it will inspire you to take a look at what you’re guests see, and feel, when they first walk into your home.

A place to kick off those shoes and to put them on! My grandfather made this phone bench many years ago and I recently gave her a facelift in the form of some matte black paint. It’s a great spot to park it as you put your shoes on for the day.

And speaking of shoes, as a household with 4 sets of feet we tend to get overwhelmed with the massive amounts of shoes that pile up. To keep them organized and out of the site of our visitors I placed two baskets under our phone bench for easy storage. Now they don’t always make it in there but at least they are there. That’s the first step right?

Now, where do you place those keys, jackets and purses? Our entryway used to be a coat closet but it just wasn’t functional so we removed the doors and carried our wood tile through to create one space. With the removal of the closet we needed a place to hang our coats and things so a simple set of hooks took care of that.

Lighting is important too. You want to light the path to your home with some beautiful lighting and you can read all about my new found love of crystal chandeliers [here].

And let’s not forget about those last glances as we walk out the door. We want to make sure we put our best foot forward and the best way to do that is to incorporate a beautiful mirror to your space.

So you need your entryway to both wow and work for you in all the ways an entryway should. What I’d love for you to take away from today’s post is your entryway should do the following:

  • Welcome all who enter your home
  • Make a statement and stay true to you and your style
  • Make the space both beautiful and functional with storage and comfort

Here are some amazing products that anyone can incorporate into their homes to create that welcoming AND functional entryway space.
