A Winter Shelf Styling
I usually go ALLLL out with ALLLL the things on our shelves in the living room but I just wasn’t feeling it this year. In the past I’ve had millions (not literally) of trees, layered frames, cutout words, hung stockings, and on and on. This year is all about being simple but purposeful in our winter/Christmas décor choices.

I knew I wanted a statement without the noise and I love the look of layered vintage mirrors. First it will reflect the rest of the room making it look less cluttered and more open and second, vintage is ALWAYS a good idea!
I collected a few different shaped and beveled mirrors and while only one of these is truly vintage I was able to achieve the vintage look by removing the more modern frames and antiquing them. If you’d like to learn how to do that read this post [here].
So I started with my focal point, the mirrors. I found the great tassels from my thrifting adventures for only a couple bucks so I draped them over the mirrors to add a little texture and glam.
I re-used the books that were already on the shelves but wrapped them in a marble paper (much like you used to wrap text books back in the day) and stacked them to create some height for a couple trees. The garland is no surprise…It is my absolute favorite from Hearth and Hand and I will FOREVER be in love with it! I simply draped it in front of the mirrors and then added in a few more stems of eucalyptus from Walmart on the ends to extend it. Then with a twinkle of light, my shelf was complete!
The smaller end shelves are left very simple with our DIY advent calendar trees made from these trees from Joann Fabric. The lanterns were also a simple project that you can read about [here].
So there you have it, our super simple and purposeful winter/Christmas shelf styling. How did you decorate this year? Did you go all out or did you keep things a little low key? I’d love to know so share in the comments below.
