A Simple Winter Tablescape

You know tablescapes don’t need to be over-the-top and elaborate to make a statement. In fact, I’ve learned the more décor details the more you lose. What do I mean by this?Well if you have large vases lined down the center of your table with beautiful full bouquets of flowers where does the face time go? You lose the interactions with your family and friends that are gathered around the table with you.

I’ve done tablescapes like this and while they are so amazing to look at, they are also a hindrance on the time shared with the people you love. You can’t look at your children as they tell you about their day. You are bobbing and weaving back and forth to try and make eye contact. So with that in mind I decided to create a simple tablescape that is both beautiful and functional for dinner chats, hangouts, and passing of the food. I collected some new and old items to create the perfect modern and vintage vibe.I mixed up the dishes with a gold charger from the Dollar Tree, vintage dinner plates that were passed down to me from my mom, and pretty pink glass appetizer plates that I’ve collected on my thrifting adventures. The center of the table has a simple white linen runner with a gorgeous eucalyptus garland that I keep talking about because it’s just that darn good! A collection of vintage brass candlesticks runs down the center with crisp white candles.I love the mix of old and new anywhere in my home and especially at the dinner table. They are memories, conversation starters, and just beautiful to look at.I hope you leave here today feeling inspired. You don’t need to be over-the-top or extravagant to have a beautiful and cozy space. You don’t need to follow a trend and think that you need to “keep up with the Joneses”. You just need to be you, do you, and love on one another.
